Product Overview

IronEarth is a polymer-based soil stabilizer formulated to permanently bind soil particles, suppress dust, control erosion, and create a durable stabilized subbase. Suitable for roads, trails, work pads, and unpaved surfaces.

Physical Properties

Form

Liquid emulsion

Color

Milky white

pH

5.0

Specific Gravity

1.08

Weight

9.1 lb/gal

Flash Point

Non-flammable

Application & Coverage

Parameter

Value

Notes

Stabilization Depth

3–6 in. (light duty) 7 in. – 3 ft. (heavy duty)

Multiple treated lifts can be used to build stabilized sections up to several feet thick

Application Rate

0.182 diluted gal/SY

May vary depending on site specifications

Coverage Rate

880 diluted gal/acre

May vary depending on site specifications

Dilution & Mixing

Parameter

Value

Notes

Water-to-Product Ratio

10:1 Standard

Adjust based on soil type and field conditions

Product Volume per Acre

80 gal (10:1)

Typical concentrate usage

Water Volume per Acre

800 gal (10:1)

Dilution water required

Total Solution per Acre

880 gal (10:1)

Total applied solution

The Standard application ratio is 10:1 (water-to-product). However, dilution ratio should be selected based on soil type. Sandy or coarse-grained soils require higher product concentration (lower ratio). Cohesive or clay-dominant soils may tolerate higher dilution. Field trials are recommended for new soil types.

Equipment

Parameter

Value

Notes

Water / Application Truck

2,500–4,000 gal capacity

Size to minimize refill trips; larger capacity preferred for remote sites

Compaction Equipment

5–12 ton ride-along roller

Apply in minimum required passes to achieve target density

A compaction standard (e.g., 95% of maximum dry density per ASTM D698) should be specified for projects requiring engineering sign-off. Contact Green Roads Technologies for project-specific compaction guidance.

Application Process

Parameter

Value

Notes

Drainage

Proper drainage is essential

Makes treated surface nearly impermeable, so proper drainage is critical

Lift Thickness (Loose)

2–6 in.

Loose, pre-compaction depth; will compact to finished specification depth

Application Method

Spray-apply diluted solution

Apply evenly over scarified or loosened soil surface

Grading

Grade to site specifications

Grading should be done for proper drainage

Mixing / Incorporation

Till or scarify to full treatment depth

Ensure uniform distribution of solution through full treatment zone

Compaction

Compact to specification

Use pneumatic roller; multiple passes as required

Cure Time

3–5 days

Under normal temperature and humidity; allow full cure before traffic loading

Weather & Storage Conditions

Parameter

Value

Notes

Minimum Application Temp.

45°F (7°C)

Do not apply if temperatures are expected to drop below 45°F during cure window

Avoid Application During

Rain or imminent rain

Standing water will dilute solution prior to cure

Storage

Protect from freezing

Store at ambient temperature in warehouse conditions. Product may be damaged if stored below 35°F

Shelf Life

2 yrs

Up to 3 yrs in ideal conditions

Surface Preparation & Bonding

Parameter

Value

Notes

Asphalt / Chip Seal Prep

Apply diluted IronEarth solution

Moisten existing surface prior to overlay; use standard working dilution

Application Rate (Bond)

Consult project specifications

Rate and dwell time depend on existing surface condition and overlay type

For asphalt or chip seal bonding applications, contact Green Roads Technologies for project-specific dilution rate and dwell time guidance prior to overlay placement.
